Know Your Audience Analysis

Throughout the course of this semester, I will be writing to an audience of other students. We all seem to be very different and unique, but we do have commonalities like this class, for example. I really enjoyed the Getting to Know Your Audience questions because they helped me get a better understanding of who I'm writing to. I have learned some of the interests of my peers and some things they like. While it may be for various reason, we're all taking this class to improve our writing skills and move forward in our educations. I learned that Ms. A and myself would both like to meet Elvis Presley! I found that pretty interesting. I like how most people didn't have the same answers. I feel like we can learn more from each other if we're all different and have different writing styles and ideas. We'll have much more diversity that way in our class, and I hope that we all gain a lot from this course. Some people's questions surprised me, but I expected some of the questions to be basic and some were (I'm guilty). But some of the responses were very in depth and I can see that my classmates care about what they are trying to say and want to communicate their thoughts. I was surprised at how many answers there were. I know there were extra points, but it seems like everyone answered most of the questions! That's helpful because we can learn more about each other if we are engaged in that way. An online course can be difficult to know who your audience is because we don't get to interact in a classroom with each other. My classmates have done a very good job at expressing who they are through discussion posts, responses, and their blogs. I especially like the blogs because those are the most expressive, I think. I feel that through the Getting to Know Your Audience questions and other posts online, I've gotten a good feel of who my audience is.

Assignment 4.2 - Freewrite Response

Today is Wednesday and we are supposed to freewrite every day for at least 10 minutes as I’ve gathered from the lesson 4 materials. This freewrite is supposed to be a response to some freewrites we read. The first one I read was Be Cool to the Pizza dude or something like that. I read it a couple of days ago, but I remember that I really liked it. I work at a bar and grill in Saint Louis when I’m home and we have a carry out and delivery side. We deliver pizza and I was able to relate a lot to the story because I know all about pizza delivery. I’ve never actually delivered a pizza myself so I can’t really say I know allll about it, but ya know I hear a lot of stories and stuff. So now I’m still typing and typing but I’m talking about the freewrites! I’m pretty sure I laughed out loud at that one and it makes me want to tip them well! I actually would like to order some pizza right now mmmm. The other one I remember reading was the one about always going to the funeral. I feel like I’ve heard that before. Is it a saying or something? I don’t know, but anyways always going to the funeral is important and I agree with the author completely. Although it was a little sad to read, it was completely true and you should always go to the funeral. I can’t quote it exactly, but there was something about how all the people there are humble enough to always go to the funeral andI agree and those are the people that are comforting to the living people that were close to whoever passed away. It is true that it is important to always go to the funeral. Recently someone I knew passed away and I didn’t go to the funeral. I probably should have and I thought about this woman while I was reading it. I’m thinking about her a lot now too. Awh, it’s so sad. Maybe one day they’ll find the cure to cancer. So back to the freewrite. I think this assignment will help to better my writing, I hope. I just don’t see how it will because all I’m doing is just typing and typing and typing. If anything it will make me better at typing. Faster, I will get faster at typing. I have no idea how long it’s been…

I believe...

I believe that if I wake up earlier, I'll have a more productive day. I think that whenever I wake up early I am more alert throughout the day and can concentrate better. I like to wake up earlier than normal because I can start my day sooner. I like to stay busy. The first thing I do every morning when I wake up is make a cup of coffee and drink it on the front porch. I like the mornings that are bright and sunny. They're a great start to the day. I can't think of anything else I want to write. I'm watching treys anatomy right now on Netflix, but I'm not actually paying attention because I'm writing this. So mornings, I love them. Once I'm up and have had my cup of coffee with one sugar and one shot of milk I can begin doing productive things like homework and chores around the house and anything else I need to do. My phone is ringing. Tomorrow I want to wake up early with my roommate and finish gardening in our front yard because it's been a mess for so long. The other night we stayed up until 4am in the rain gardening. I don't really know why, I guess we both just got a burst of energy to do so but it was fun but we left a huge mess and now our front yard is a jungle. I really want some pink flowers in front of our house. Another thing I want to do tomorrow is go get some flowers. Where can I get them? I don't like free writing. This is a mess. I keep getting sidetracked because I'm trying to think of things to keep writing. I guess I will keep talking about productive days now. Another thing I like to do in the mornings is yoga. That's the best time for it, I think. It's a great way to start your day and get your blood flowing. It wakes me up and makes me feel good. I love doing yoga in my backyard. It's the perfect amount of sunny in the mornings and I can get a nice tan while I'm doing my morning yoga. I'd also like to go for a run tomorrow. I have work so I'm going to have to get up really early. Tomorrow is Father's Day!!! Happy father's day to all the dads! I work at Colton's Steakhouse and we're most likely going to be very busy tomorrow. I'm going to have to get up really early tomorrow. I already said that. How long has it been? I have another minute. Sooooo what to talk about next.. I'm going to get up at like 7:00am tomorrow hopefully. I'm really sorry if you're reading this right now. Did anyone else have trouble with the I believe statements. I don't know what I believe or what exactly the kinds of things I was supposed to say but I think my list was as bad as this free write. My apologies.

Jung Typology Test

I took the Jung Typology Test and today my type was INFJ. I know I have taken this before and I can't quite remember, but I'm almost positive I didn't get the same results. This may be because I took it in high school a few years ago or could indicate the unreliability of the test. The results I got today showed that I'm a slight introvert, which I partially agree with. I like social settings and I can be be pretty outgoing, but I also enjoy my alone time. I would agree that I am more intuitive than sensing and that I often make decisions based on feelings rather than thinking things out. I don't quite understand why I'm 11% judging over perceiving. I feel that I am pretty nonjudgmental and I take the time to understand something or someone before making a decision about how I feel about it. I don't believe the results of this test will help me to become a better writer. I don't think I understand exactly what the results of this test are telling me and I don't know how to use this tool to better myself as a writer. I don't feel that it exposed anything about me as a writer or my writing style.
